My name is Kara Christensen and I am currently seeking the Masters of Science in Education- Instructional Technology degree through the University of Nebraska-Kearney (UNK). Presently, I work as the Instructional Design Specialist for Baker College in Flint, Michigan. Baker College is a private, not-for-profit college that has had a huge impact in the world of higher education for over 100 years. The college offers a variety of degree programs, ranging from certificate programs all the way to doctoral degree programs. There are 10 campuses around Michigan, including Baker Online and The Center for Graduate Studies (our online campuses). As a member of the instructional design team at Baker College, I strive to design each course using relevant, timeless curriculum and to incorporate appropriate technologies to provide students with real-world learning experiences to better prepare them for their future careers.

 

This portfolio serves two purposes. First, it showcases artifacts for each course I have completed while in the Masters of Education program to highlight the skills and knowledge I have gained. Second, this portfolio will showcase the professional development sessions and certifications that I have accomplished while at Baker College. Combined, both parts of my portfolio showcase my journey to becoming a versatile instructional designer. As a result of this program, and continuous professional development, I will continue to strengthen my skill set through life-long learning which will enable me to become a successful instructional designer.
